THE OVERALL TECHNOLOGY

E-bikes basically differ from ordinary bikes in that they are provided with an electric motor, a battery, a controller and a control unit. When the pedals are being turned, a signal is sent to the controller via a sensor attached to the crank. This sends a new signal which starts the motor. Afterwards, the motor performance is adjusted as required by means of the assist function while driving.

SPEED-DRIVE AND ECO-DRIVE

Pro-Movec’s range of e-bikes includes two different types of software systems for operating the motor, namely speed-drive and eco-drive. Speed-drive provides the most motor assistance at each assist level. When the assist level is set, the speed is adjusted accordingly. For example, assist level 1 corresponds to 10 km/h and assist level 5 corresponds to 25 km/h.Eco-drive is the ”economical” software which, depending on the assist level, provides consistent assistance from 0-25 km/h.
The best way to find out the difference between the two systems is to take a test run. The electric control system automatically switches the motor off when the pedals are not being turned. If the brake is applied or if the speed exceeds 24.6km/h, the motor is also turned off.The more you turn the pedals, the longer range of the e-bike. The new types of e-bikes can either be used as regular bikes or you can turn on the assistance function, using as much or little effort as you wish.

Batteries

Pro-Movec offers different types of Japanese Lithium-ion batteries depending on the e-bike model and need for transportation as shown in the table below:
All battery solutions are easily removed for indoor charging and charging works the same way as when you charge your mobile phone or laptop. A flat battery is fully charged in 6 hours.
In addition to the battery size, there is a number of factors that affect the performance and hence the range such as terrain, driving pattern, tire pressure, user weight and battery age. As the battery is a wearing part, the effect and thus the range gradually decreases over time. We therefore recommend buying the battery one size larger than you planned.

DISPLAY

There are several types of display screens available in Pro-Movec’s range of e-bikes. All display screens are mounted on the handlebars and are operated with the thumb. The display screen is easy to use and provides clear, easy to understand information about the battery and assist levels. Moreover, the assist level is adjusted on the display screen.
If you ride in a low assist mode, you will receive little assistance and hence the battery range is extended, whereas if you select a high assist mode, the motor will support you with power, using more electricity and thus reducing the range.

MOTORS

All Pro-Movec e-bikes are equipped with different types of powerful and noiseless motors. The hub motor is a powerful and compact motor with 250W planet gear and a low weight, ensuring a powerful and smooth riding experience.

The motor may be located in the front or rear wheel depending on the model. The front wheel motor is typically combined with a battery solution placed in the rack, saddle bag or chain guard so that the weight is distributed evenly between the front and the rear of the bike. This provides the most natural and comfortable riding experience.
On the Rush Mountain bike model, the motor is located in the rear wheel as the battery is built into the down tube at the front of the frame. The weight is evenly distributed between the front and the rear of the bike and as the motor is located in the rear wheel the power is best utilised and transferred when driving in hilly terrain. This provides great maneuverability and the best riding experience. The motor has a soft start function which makes setting off more natural. Pro-Movec provides a 3-year warranty on all motors.
